Art Moves In
《藝術,正在這裡生活》
TARTCH Deran Art collaborates with Japanese artist vug, using “living” as a creative method to respond to the relationship between art, time, space, and dwelling. In a context where contemporary art is often incorporated into exhibition mechanisms and market discourse, this project proposes a core question: Can art temporarily leave the state of being defined and interpreted, and return to a way of existing alongside life and coexisting with time?
This project is curated by founder and Artistic Director Denise Tsai (蔡孟君), continuing her long-term curatorial thinking on the distance between art and everyday life. Beyond passive viewing and consumption-oriented exhibition formats, she is more concerned with perceptual experiences that quietly permeate daily life and accompany people over a long period of time. Therefore, Art Moves In is not only an exhibition, but a curatorial experiment centered on life—allowing art to leave the exhibition wall and enter living spaces and the flow of time.
The project invites Japanese artist vug to reside at the co-living apartment “9floor Pure (玖樓璞園)” in Wenshan District, Taipei, using dwelling and daily observation as the starting point of creation. 9floor Pure co-living is a revitalized public housing case jointly developed by 9floor and the Puyuan architectural team, with co-living experience as its core value. Upholding the core concepts of co-living exchange, foreign-language friendliness, and integrated diverse lifestyle services, it is committed to practicing the brand spirit and original intention behind the slogan: “You may rent a house, but not your life.”
Through shared spaces and community interaction, the artist is no longer merely an observer of the site, but becomes a member of life within it, allowing creation to gradually take shape through walking, pausing, and the accumulation of time. 9floor has long focused on co-living culture and interpersonal connection; its life-centered spatial spirit forms a deep resonance with Deran Art’s concept of “bringing art back to everyday life.”
Wenshan, as a corner at the edge of Taipei City, preserves a life scale where mountains and residences intertwine, carrying a relatively slower and more delicate rhythm of time. Here, art is no longer placed within a specific viewing framework, but enters shared spaces, lingers in corridors, and intersects with residents’ daily life moments, becoming a subtle interface for re-perceiving local life. Through residency and public creation, art allows people to become aware again of the communities, streets, and life scenes they inhabit, transforming a geographical location into a cultural field that continuously generates meaning.
vug’s creation begins with everyday experiences—street moments, pauses in travel, and fragments of personal memory—which are transformed into a gentle yet enduring visual language, like a diary written by time, containing healing power beneath a calm surface. Some works will remain on residential walls and in public spaces, living together with residents and visitors, slowly accumulating meaning between being seen and being overlooked.
Therefore, Art Moves In is not only an exhibition event, but a continuous practice of public art methodology and the relationship between life aesthetics. Art does not exist for completion, but continues to unfold in the process of being lived with, viewed, and felt. When art truly becomes part of life, ways of dwelling in the city will also be reimagined.
This project also plans three on-site activities close to everyday life, inviting viewers to approach the site of creation and feel how art naturally integrates into life; through dialogue, perception, and gentle bodily stretching, reconnecting body, space, and inner rhythm, and experiencing another way in which art exists through breathing and stillness.
🌟 Free admission during the exhibition period. Some works and art-related merchandise will be presented in limited quantities on site, and art beverages will also be available. Everyone is welcome to visit.
